The Living Church Foundation ("The Foundation," "we" or "us") provides a variety of online services and products to its users on the website currently located at archive.livingchurch.org (“The Living Church News Service” or the "Site"). The Foundation is strongly committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information, and providing a safe and secure environment for our users.

The purpose of this The Living Church News Service privacy policy (the "Policy") is to help you understand what kinds of information we may gather about you when you visit the Site, how we may use that information, whether we will disclose it, and how you can correct the information. The Site is not directed toward children less than 13 years of age. The Living Church News Service does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13 years of age. If you are under 13 years of age, you should not register to become a Member or provide any personally identifiable information through the Site.

The Living Church News Service collects information from you at several different points on the Site in the manner set forth below. Whenever we collect personal information, we will make an effort to include a link to the Policy on that page.

The Living Church News Service Registration

In order to use certain products and services on the Site, a user must first become a The Living Church News Service member ("Member") by completing our member registration form. During registration you are required to give information such as your name, e-mail address, and mailing address.

Optional Surveys

You may have the opportunity to participate in a number of surveys on the Site. We encourage you to complete surveys so that we can provide you with a more personalized experience on the Site.

Purchases on The Living Church News Service

When you make a purchase on the Site, we require information from you such as name and shipping address, as well as financial information including a credit card number and an expiration date. This information is used for billing purposes and to fill your order. If we have trouble processing your order, we will use this information to contact you.
The sale and fulfillment of items advertised on The Living Church News Service advertised may be handled by various third party merchants. The Living Church News Service is not responsible for the information collection or privacy practices of each third party merchant. If you have any questions regarding any of the respective third party merchants’ information gathering or collection practices, we strongly encourage you to visit their respective privacy policies.

Special Offers/Contests

Occasionally, The Living Church News Service may send Members information on special Member-only offers, Site updates, The Living Church News Service special offers and contests. The Living Church News Service presents the option to not receive these types of communications and to opt out of participating in any contest. We will not share your contest information with any third party, except in aggregate form. In addition, if and when we sponsor contests or other promotions, or third parties sponsor such promotions in conjunction with us, either we or the third party will post relevant privacy information in the official rules and/or registration area for the sweepstakes or promotion. That privacy information, to the extent it conflicts with this Policy, will govern that particular contest-please remember to read it carefully.

Message Board and Chats

We provide opportunities on the Site for members to post comments relating to spirituality and news of the Church. Only The Living Church News Service Members may make postings on a message board. Please note that information you post to a message board will be available for any user of that service to read, and is therefore no longer private.

Cookies

In our effort to provide you with services customized to your interests, we use "cookies" to assist in the collection of information. A cookie is a small data file containing information such as a user's login name that is sent to your browser from a web server and stored on your computer's hard drive. We use cookies to: access your account information (stored on our computers) in order to deliver better and more personalized services; estimate our audience size for our advertisers; identify which areas of the Site you have visited; and prevent users from voting in polls more than once, all as part of The Living Church News Service’ efforts to streamline your experience on the Site. Tracking information such as cookies is also used to create aggregate reports on user demographics and Site traffic patterns, and then is provided to our advertisers and partners enabling them to better target their advertisements to our Members and other users. We also collect IP (Internet Protocol) addresses to analyze trends, administer the Site, track a user's movement, and gather broad demographic information for aggregate use.

How We Use The Information That We Gather

The Living Church News Service uses information obtained from its Members and other users as stated in this Policy and to enhance Members' and other users' experiences on the Site. For example, we may provide information about additional products and services that may be of interest to you based upon information supplied by Members and other users. Other than as set forth in this Policy, we do not rent or sell any personal information about our Members and other users. As a general rule, we will not disclose any personal information to any third parties, except when we believe in good faith that the law requires it, or that it is appropriate to protect other users of the Site, or to operate the Site properly, or to respond to an emergency. Information is also disclosed if the Member or other user has given permission, for example by voluntarily entering a contest or making a purchase on the Site, where the information required to register for the contest or to ship your purchases is provided to the third party of that service. We also reserve the right to report any suspected illegal activity to law enforcement for investigation or prosecution, or to suspend or terminate your membership in connection with any suspected illegal or infringing activity.

Third Party Links

You acknowledge that we do not monitor, control or endorse the information collection or privacy practices of any third parties, including but not limited to any credit card order processors, product shippers or other third parties who provide services throughout the Site. Accordingly, the Foundation assumes no liability or responsibility for the information collection and privacy practices of any third party. In addition, the Foundation is not responsible for the content of any third party websites, including a third party's use of any cookies or any other information (such as IP address, browser type or operating system) collected when you "click-through" links to their sites or view advertisements served by them. Even though certain information collected by such third parties might not identify you personally, we strongly encourage you to become familiar with their privacy practices, and to contact such third parties if you have any questions about their respective privacy policies.
In addition, the Site may provide links to other Internet websites or resources ("Linked Sites"). The Foundation neither controls nor endorses such Linked Sites nor have we reviewed or approved any content that appears on such Linked Sites. You acknowledge and agree that the Foundation is not responsible for the legality, accuracy or inappropriate nature of any content, advertising, products or other materials on or available from such Linked Sites. You further acknowledge and agree that the Foundation shall not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance on any such content, goods, and services available on or through any such Linked Site.
Please keep in mind that whenever you participate by posting comments in a public area on the Site, you provide information that can be collected and used by others that you do not know for the purpose of distributing unsolicited communications. The Foundation cannot guarantee the security of such information that you disclose online in public areas on the Site and Members and other users do so at their own risk.

Security

The Site uses reasonable security methods to protect the data that resides on our servers. However, no security system is impenetrable. The Foundation cannot warrant or guarantee the security of its servers, nor can it guarantee that information that Members supply will not be intercepted while being transmitted to The Living Church News Service over the Internet. When our registration/order form asks users to enter credit card numbers, that information is encrypted.

Correction/Updating Personal Information

If your personally identifiable information changes (such as your zip code), or if you no longer desire our service, we allow you to correct, update or remove the personal data that you provided. Keep in mind, however, that there will be residual information that will remain within the Foundation’s databases, access logs, and other records, which may or may not contain such personally identifiable information.

Opt in or Opt out

You are given the opportunity to opt in or opt out of having your information used for purposes not directly related to the Site at the point where we ask for the information. For example, our registration form has an opt in and an opt out mechanism so that users who want to become a The Living Church News Service Member, but don't want any of our free products and services, can keep their email address off of our lists.
